Education CS George Magoha has directed school heads not to send away students with school fees arrears even as schools open. Magoha further stated that the government has released capitation funds to both primary and secondary schools.
Addressing the press during the groundbreaking ceremony of junior secondary school classrooms phase two at Kereri girls, he further stated that the government was unable to increase the capitation money issued to schools at the moment. He stated that this was caused by the affected school calendar.
While acknowledging that times were hard he urged schools to admit needy students and gives their parents time to look for school fees, he also appealed those who with capabilities to assist in paying fees for the needy.
Magoha further called on school heads to use resources allocated to them to support students with critical cases.
The CS further said that the government was in the second phase of constructing 100,000 CBC classrooms before the next government took over.
