Kalonzo Asks Azimio MPs To Reject Proposed Finance Bill

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has urged MPs allied to the Azimio coalition to reject the proposed Finance Bill 2024 when it get to parliament saying it will hurt Kenyans more.

Speaking on Tuesday during Azimio’s Parliamentary Group meeting in Nairobi, Kalonzo the bill, if not changed will adversely hurt Kenyans because of the prposed heavy taxation on key items.

The Wiper leaders said the current regime will not listen concerns raised by Kenyans instead, it will implement the Bill as it is just the previous year.

“We went to the streets. As a coalition, we are ready to go back to the streets if that is what it takes. And I hope you are bold enough to go and cause aggression on public participation,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo urged the opposition to be on the frontline in fighting for Kenyans even as President Ruto promises to raise taxes to 22 % by the time his term comes to an end.

The leader also raised concern on why Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi was cleared to continue working even after being voted out by MPS regarding the fake fertilizer scandal.

“This thing will not go away. Wait until there is a shortfall in the harvest. Kenyans do not believe the product that came out of the committee,” he added.

The Bill subjects Kenyans to more taxes in the coming Financial year as it also gives KRA access to personal data to increase the tax collection exercise.
