Three Al-Shabaab terrorists have been killed in Takaba, Mandera County by security agents.
Police went ahead to destroy the terrorists’ camp and their equipment. North Eastern police have assured the residents that the operations are ongoing in the region.
The special forces team that carried the operation followed the leads where the gang was hiding thus destroying two camps and killing the three suspects yet most of the attackers escaped.
Last week the terrorists destroyed a communication mast at Omar in the same County.
Several security agencies have been deployed to carry out security operations in various highlighted red areas.
They have further put various restrictions having put in place the designated immigration and customs points thus they have installed CCTV cameras and trenches have been dug.
Once the project is complete the team will spread 40 kilometres apart to enable a quick response to attacks.
Thus the government has created at least 22 border posts on the border with well-equipped personnel for responding.
The fence located in Mandera and Lamu has helped in reducing attacks by militants who often cross. According to the government research by the security agents,30 per cent of the country’s security problems loopholes are from the Somalia border whereby the terrorists used to attack Kenya.
Hence members of the public are urged to be alert and give out information to any suspicious activity to the security agencies earlier enough for investigations to be done or action to be taken.
