Bayern Munich suffered their worst-ever DFB-Pokal defeat on Wednesday when they were thrashed 5-0 at the hands of Borussia Monchengladbach.
Monchengladbach took the lead within two minutes and was 3-0 up after 21 minutes.
This is the first time Bayern has ever conceded three goals that early in a German cup match.
Bensebaini and Embolo scored a pair of goals for the home side, with Kouadio Kone also finding the net for his first Monchengladbach goal.
Bayern’s defeat to Monchengladbach marked the second consecutive season to be eliminated from the DFB-Pokal in the round of 32.
Bayern last lost a game by a five-goal margin 43 years ago when Fortuna Dusseldorf beat them 7-1 in the Bundesliga.
It is now the first time since 1994-95 and 1995-96 that Bayern has failed to reach the last 16 in back-to-back seasons of the competition.
