Burundi president lands in Kenya ahead of Madaraka day

Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye landed at Kisumu International Airport ahead of Madaraka day.

Ndayishimiye who was accompanied by First Lady Angeline Ndayubaha landed at around 10:15 am aboard a Kenya Airways Dreamliner aircraft.

He was received by ODM leader Raila Odinga, Foreign Affairs CS Raychelle Omamo and other senior government officials.

Ndayishimiye was later taken to Acacia Hotel in Kisumu.

He will be the guest of honour at the Madaraka Day celebrations that will take place in Kisumu tomorrow.

He arrived in a fleet of black vehicles that left some Kisumu residents curious.

The residents who did not expect the occurrences, stood there fascinated and asking questions.

State House spokesperson Kanze Dena during the weekend said Ndayishimiye will join President Uhuru Kenyatta on his development tour of Kisumu today, ahead of the Madaraka Day.

Uhuru will officially commission national government projects that are complete, inspect ongoing initiatives and launch new projects during the visit.

According to State House, the President will be accompanied by First Lady Margret Kenyatta during his visit.
