Despite being denied appointment as Deputy Governor by MCAs, nominee James Gesami seems to be executing the duties of a deputy governor.
In his current position, Gesami is carrying out similar duties to those that are performed by a deputy governor in office.
On Wednesday, Gesami made his first appearance to the public when he represented Governor Nyaribo at the Equity Bank yearly wings to fly programme that supports needy but bright students, an exercise that took place at Sironga Girls Secondary school.
During the function, Gesami had seemingly enjoyed all the privileges of a deputy governor whereby he had a security guard, an official car and was accompanied by county government officials to grace the occasion as a chief guest and crowned the even by reading governor Nyaribo’s speech.
The deputy governor nominee Dr James Gesami’s appointment was rejected by both the Assembly’s appointment committee and the whole Assembly earlier February prompting Governor Nyaribo to hold several meetings with the MCAs, in a bid to convince the Mcas to approve his deputy governor nominee’s name, whereby a section of MPs were accused of being behind the challenges that faced Gesami.
Governor Nyaribo and DG nominee James Gesami are however fully convinced that some political forces are behind their disappointments but maintains that they will keep on working for the people of Nyamira county saying those who want to frustrate them do not have the people of Nyamira at heart.
“I understand that a section of our leaders is using our Mcas to stall the development plans of our county, but let me assure our people that we shall work for you despite any challenge that shall come our way,” Nyaribo told journalists in a past interview.
He maintained that handouts to MCAs will not affect his plans for the people who are looking up to him for development.
