Four suspects connected to the brutal murder of a chief in Mt Elgon, Bungoma County have been arrested.
Chepyuk Location Chief, Geoffrey Kipsang, 57, was killed and his body disposed in a shallow grave in a maize plantation last week.
Angry residents burnt several houses; some belonging to the individuals involved in the murder and others near the location that Kipsang’s body was found.
The residents also killed a suspect who tricked the chief into his killing.
The four suspects in custody are believed to have collaborated with others who the police are still tracking down.
Bungoma County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti confirmed the arrest of the four noting that justice must prevail.
“You cannot take law in your hands and kill a government official and expect to go scot-free, I want to tell all those who were involved that they will be arrested and face the full wrath of the law,” he said.
