Four year old boy rescued, Kisumu

A 4-year-old boy has been rescued by the department of children in Kisumu from his parents after months of being given local brew “chan’gaa” by his mother occasionally.

In an online video that went viral, the boy is seen intoxicated, struggling to walk in their Shauri Moyo estate house in the lakeside city.

The arrest of the woman was confirmed by Kisumu County commissioner Josephine Ouko, who promised stiffer action.

Commissioner Ouko confirmed that the mother was booked at Kondele police station and is assisting police with investigations.

The child has been taken to a rescue centre, where he will be monitored before any further action is taken.

The mother will have to be arraigned in court to serve as an example to other parents who neglect and introduce their children to harmful products.

Hellen Apiyo, an activist, says the children department was alerted and rescued the child before the arrest of the mother.
