Former Icaciri Girls’ High School Principal Jane Muthoni has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Muthoni and her accomplice, Isaac Ng’ang’a, were found guilty of killing Kiiru Boys High School Principal, Solomon Mwangi.
Ng’ang’a alias Gikuyu will also serve 30 years in prison for the murder.
The two conspired to kill Mwangi, in November 2016.
High Court judge Joel Ngugi today described Muthoni as a vengeful wife who prearranged and funded her husband’s murder.
Justice Joel Ngugi said the prosecution proved its case against the duo beyond any reasonable doubt.
“A stiff custodial sentence against the accused is merited,” he said while delivering the ruling.
The State had last month called for the death sentence for Muthoni who arranged the murder of her husband.
State Counsel Catherine Mwaniki and Mbuthi’s family lawyer, Mathenge Wokabi had urged Justice Joel Ngugi to consider employing the maximum sentence for the matter bearing in mind the circumstances of the murder.
The two observed that the two offenders showed no remorse or regret throughout the trial that has lasted five years.
Nakuru High Court found the duo guilty of murder in April this year.
Mwangi had been reported missing on November 6, 2016. His mutilated body was found eight days later, dumped at Karakuta in a coffee plantation in Juja sub-county, Kiambu County.
His widow, Muthoni, and her co-accused, Ng’ang’a, were later arrested in connection with the killing.
