Officials from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) visited Kitutu Masaba in Nyamira County where there is a proposal to build Kiendege airport.
The aviation officials spent time this week collecting residents’ views to prepare a report before launching the project in the county.
The airport project will be funded by the national government.
This is one of the many projects that have been lined up for the county.
Governor Amos Nyaribo said the project will create jobs and improve the economy of Nyamira County.
“This airport will be of great importance to this region and it will create employment for our young people. We call upon our residents to welcome this project for the betterment of our county,” said Nyaribo.
Rashid Abdalla head of the KCAA delegation asked the people of Nyamira County to cooperate with them as they collect views on the proposed airport.
Amos Mariba Nyamira County Commissioner stated that residents will get the priority on jobs that will be created by the project.
Other projects planned for Nyamira County include Esanige Green Stadium, Ekerenyo Subcounty Hospital and Sironga Agro-Industrial Business Park.
