Kenya to deport 14 Eastern Europeans over illegal gambling

Interior CS Fred Matiang'i has given a go-ahead for the deportation of 14 Eastern Europeans who
were involved in illegal gambling in Kenya.
The deportation orders were signed by CS Fred Matiang'i to what is believed to be a crackdown
on illegal gambling activities in the country.
The 14 foreigners were arrested in different Nairobi estates in a joint operation between the
police and immigration department.
“They are in the country illegally with involvement in gambling and other illegal activities,” said
an official.
The 14 were taken to different police stations in Nairobi and will be deported today evening.
In early December Interior, CS Matiang'i took a tough stand on gambling activities in Kenya
where money laundering is suspected to be happening.
"We will not go back on the decision that we have made as a government. And Kenyans can rest
assured, absolutely on this matter," said Matiang'i.
The interior CS added that Kenya will not allow any illegal activities in the country that will
destroy our society.
