Three bodyguards from Kisii governor candidate Manson Oyongo’s security detail were killed on Tuesday evening with two others fighting for their lives in hospital after the Probox car they were riding in lost control and rolled several times at Riobonyo area near Nyangusu.
The vehicle was headed towards a funeral in Magenche, Bomachoge Borabu when the incident happened.
According to police the probox driver who was in Mr oyongo’s convoy was speeding when he knocked a pedestrian and a motorcycle. Five people were injured and one person died on the spot.
Two other people succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment in hospital.
Police have launched a manhunt for the driver who ran away from the scene of accident.
