Kenya Tea Development Agency Management Services Limited (KTDA -MS) has disbursed Shs 21.57 billion bonus to farmers.
The funds cater for the financial year that ended on June 30.
They will reflect in farmers’ bank accounts by end week.
The bonus has been handed after a series of meetings by factory directors of KTDA-managed factories, that took place between September 20th and October 1.
According to KTDA Holdings Limited chairperson David Ichoho, confirmed Shs 600 per 50kg bag of fertilizer will be reflected in the payment, in a move to achieve the Shs 1 billion fertilizer subsidy by the government directly to the farmers.
Ichoho said that the Board and Management are working to guarantee farmers an optimal benefit from the business.
He further urged farmers to re-invest their net earnings in increasing farm production quality to make their business more sustainable.
Meanwhile, KTDA-managed factories are already enjoying higher tea prices at the sale following the introduction of the minimum reserve price.
