Matiangi meets Nyamira leaders and calls for unity

Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and Nyamira leaders finally agreed to settle wrangles in the county
and help governor Nyaribo deliver services.

Matiangi t led Nyamira leaders in a prayers meeting held at Bosiango SDA and Kuura SDA on
Saturday, where he also led the leaders in a funds drive for the construction of the church.

Those present included Noah Nyachae – son to Simeon Nyachae, Solicitor General Ken Ogeto,
Health PS Susan Mochache, ICT CAS Mourine Mbaka, Members of Parliament Kemosi(West
Mugirango), Ben Momanyi (Borabu), Shadrack Mose(Kitutu Masaba), Joash Nyamoko(North
Mugirango)woman representative Jerusha Momanyi and senator Okong’o Omogeni.

Earlier this week, succession politics played centre stage in the appointment of the Deputy
Governor for Nyamira where MPs are accused of sabotaging the process but Matiangi urged
leaders to be considerate on the development of the region and settle the matter.

“We held a fruitful consultative meeting with your elected leaders and agreed to remain united
for the development of our county; we cannot do politics every time at the expense of people,”
said Matiang’i.

CS Matiang’i had met all the county leaders including the MCAs, MPs and the county assembly
speaker Moffat Teya on Thursday night at his residence in Borabu, where they all agreed to
support governor Nyaribo in the remaining period.

The meeting was championed by Matiang’i and Kisii Governor James Ongwae where the leaders
came to a consensus to burry hatchets and develop Nyamira County.

Governor Nyaribo who was at the meeting said he had no problems but affirmed to residents that
despite any kind of wave that may come his way.“We will not be shaken, we will not be threatened, neither will we be moved by the political waves in our county. I call upon all leaders to join hands and support our development journey in the county,” Nyaribo said.

However, during the function on Saturday, a section of MCAs who support the DG nominee
Gesami plotted to lecture the MPs but they were denied an opportunity by the church leadership.
“Our members of parliament are becoming a letdown, you cannot call some of us, compromise
them and expect to go free, the residents must punish you. All our people want is development
and we are not ashamed to state that you are part of the reasons why our county is not
developing,” said Ekerenyo ward MCA Thaddeus Nyabaro.

Matiangi reaffirmed that the president has Goodwill for Nyamira people and recently he released
1.4Billion for construction of Ekerenyo Hospital, Nyamaiya Stadium, Igena Itambe Hospital
460Million, improvement of Tinga-Igena Itambe – Nyachogochogo into bitumen( Tarmac). He
further indicated that the national government shall launch a multi-million project worth Sh 30
million US Dollars at Sironga in Nyamira county through UNIDO.

“The United Nations Industrial Development Organization will create several opportunities for
our people,” said Matiangi.

The CS calmed the rift between MCAs and MPs and thanked people of Nyamira for supporting
the government to deliver services.
