Migori County Government workers union have opposed the Finance Bill 2023. The union Executive Secretary Silvanace Araja has called on the members of the national assembly to reject the bill saying that the proposals in it are going to hurt civil servants.
The secretary said that the members of the National Assembly stand a chance to defend their interests in parliament and that, this is the right time. He said that the workers of the union are opposed to the proposed 3 per cent salary deduction for the housing levy because most workers have already built their houses and that, others have made their own arrangements.
According to Araja, those workers interested in affordable housing should make their contributions and those not interested should be exempted from the scheme. He made it clear that not every worker is ready to contribute towards the plan and the government should not force them to do so.
The executive secretary promised to be in the frontline in protesting against the Finance Bill 2023.
