Police officers frustrated the planned mass action.

All major roads in the city were deployed by police officers particularly the ones leading to state house, the officers also monitored demonstrators and this explains why Raila Odinga and his supporters were blocked from involving themselves in the planned mass action that had threatened to invade state house and present a petition to the president.

Police officers by midnight Sunday had already taken positions across all corners of the Nairobi CBD patrolling and controlling people’s movements to protect the Azimio leader and his supporters from entering state house.

Other officers were ensuring that all vehicles ferrying demonstrators from other parts from the country were not allowed to enter the city.
Roadblocks were set on areas surrounding the State House to ensure no vehicle transporting a large group of people passes these roads.

There was increased patrol on all major roads, those are Waiyaki- Way, Thika Road, and Mombasa Road and by 6am on Monday, all security teams assigned to deal with the riots began relaying the security situation in the city centre. Other officers from the Integrity Command Centre were monitoring every movement through the CCTV cameras stations all over the city providing updates to officers on the ground and their commanding officers.
