The Senate Public Accounts Committee has summoned Migori Governor Akoth Obado.
Committee Chairman Senator Achilo Ayako says the Obado had failed to give sufficient reason as to why he could not appear before the committee as required.
Obado snubbed the committee hearings on Thursday morning despite having been called to attend.
“It is unfortunate that the Governor decide not to attend the hearings. He has a duty to attend the hearings. It is clear in the law what he has is supposed to do. He has intentionally decided to snub us,” said Ayako.
The Governor will now be required to appear before the Committee on June 4, 2021.
He is to be grilled on the financial expenditure for the year 2018/2019.
The hearings are being conducted from Kisii County Assembly Hall. Two Governors are set for grilling; Migori Governor Akoth Obado and his Nyamira counterpart Amos Nyaribo.
