Several people injured as rival political groups engage in the Kiamokama by-election

Scores have been injured as rival groups engaged in today’s Kiamokama by-election.

The chaos began Thursday mid-morning after police arrested UDA candidate Nyandusi Nyakeramba.

Nyandusi was held briefly at Kiamokama Police station before he was transferred to Ogembo Police station. He was later released.

However, the police denied that they had arrested Nyandusi. At least four others were arrested alongside the UDA candidate.

Several motor vehicles were also vandalised.

The by-election is a result of the former MCA Kennedy Mainya’s death three months ago.

IEBC had cleared 11 candidates for the by-election.

Three candidates; of ODM (Malachi Matara) UDA and PED’s Daniel Ondabu had been leading in the campaigns.
