Fuel tanker rams into houses in Nyamira.
One person was killed as four others escaped death narrowly after a fuel tanker rammed into houses at Kebirigo in Nyamira County.
The tanker was heading to Nyamira town from Ikonge before the driver lost control at Ibara along the Okerenyo-Keribigo Highway, before it hit a coffin shop and damaged neighboring houses and kiosks.
The lady who operates a kiosk next to the coffin shop died while her four-year-old child sustained injuries.
Police commander of Nyamira North Patrick Ngeiywa, confirmed the death of the lady since she was trapped under the wreckage of the tanker for more than four hours before she was finally retrieved and confirmed dead.
The petrol tanker belonged to a petroleum trading company and was heading to Kisii town.
The four-year-old child, the grandmother, the driver and his conductor sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at Nyamira County Referral Hospital.
