Tanzania President John Pombe Magufuli is dead.
Magufuli’s death was announced yesterday night by the Tanzanian Vice President Samia Hassan Suluhu.
Ms Samia said Magufuli died due to heart disease at Mzena State Hospital in Dar es Salaam. Ms Hassan said that Magufuli was hospitalised on March 6 at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute and died at Mzena State Hospital in Dar es Salaam.
The vice president announced a 14 day mourning period as burial arrangements are made.
President John Pombe Magufuli was born in Chato, Geita region on October 29, 1959and was Tanzania’s 5th president.
