Bodies retrieved out of River Yala

At least 20 bodies have been retrieved from river Yala in Western Kenya according to human rights group.

River Yala in Gem in Siaya County flows to Lake Victoria and the bodies were seen floating in the river  in sacks , tied with ropes, deep cuts and others mutilated beyond recognition.

The bodies had not been identified as most of them had no fingers to enable fingerprint identification .The bodies were taken to Yala Mortuary

Locals say the bodies are usually dumbed into the river by unknown people and the bodies are not from the Yala Community as they can be able to account for their members and none is missing.

The locals have raised a concern over the raising number of the bodies in the river and yet the people who live downstream depend mostly on River Yala for their domestic activities using the water.

Despite the police urging the members of the community and country at large to come forward and claim the bodies, none has yet to come.

The DCI team has dispatched a team of forensic in a bid to claim the unclaimed bodies.
