Court to Give Verdict on DP Rigathi Gachagua’s graft withdrawal case

The court is tomorrow set to rule on whether it will allow  the petition by Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji  to withdraw the Sh7.3 billion corruption case against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The DPP told the court that the evidence on record  was not sufficient to mount a successful prosecution.

Lead Investigating Officer Kuria Obadia confessed through an affidavit, that he was pressured by former DCI Boss George Kinoti to conclude the probe and recommend Gachagua and his co-accused prosecution.

DP Rigathi Gachagua faces six counts of economic crimes, including conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption, money laundering, and fraudulent acquisition of public property.
