He was born as the only son in his family; his parents had hope in him.
The late Dr Stephen Mogusu’s family says the death of their kin is tragic and untimely.
Dr Mogusu died on Monday after battling COVID-19 related complications at Kenyatta University Hospital for two weeks.
His parents; Naftal Mogusu and mother Agnes Moraa say the death would have been avoided. “The Government must protect our medics. Without them, we are doomed.”
The father said he has struggled to ensure that his children got formal education. Despite the challenges in the family, three of Dr Mogusu’s siblings have managed to get a university education.
“Some of my children have not been able to receive their KCSE Certificates because we still have fee arrears. We thought things could be better after our son completed his university education.”
The mother says she has not seen his son since February. “I was waiting to receive him home during the Christmas holiday.”
Dr Mogusu went to Lenana High school before proceeding to the University of Nairobi to pursue a degree in Medicine and Surgery.
He was among the best KCPE candidates; he scored 408 marks from Genesis Academy. He lives behind a widow and a four months old son.
