Government Orders Transfer Of Police Officers Who Have Served In One Station For 3 Years

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has now ordered the immediate implementation of the three-year transfer policy for police officers.

Speaking when he held a meeting with security committees from Kiambu, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, and Meru, Kindiki explained that the move seeks to eliminate conflict of interest, guard against internal sabotage, and enhance service delivery in the security sector.

Kindiki insisted that it is the directive from the government and has to be complied with noting that the issue has been discussed for a very long time and it must be effected now.

“We have talked about this issue of 3-year transfer policy for too long and I just wanted to communicate that all the officers form all the agencies who have served in one station for 3 years and above will be transferred starting today morning across Kenya,” he stated.

He also said the IG Japhet Koome and all others responsible have been directed that the policy must be implemented without fail.

The CS noted that the affected officials are junior police officers who have overstayed in stations and have become part of the local communities.

“They[officers] are the ones who have entered into the unholy alliance with some of the people who are destroying the country and they are the ones who even arrange protection fees,” he added.

The CS added that these are the same officers who reportedly go ahead and arrange to have protection fees.

According to CS Kindiki, the transfers will be implemented beginning today (Friday).
