A Kenyan priest from Nyeri has lost his life after drowning in Brazil.
The Diocese of Bonfim Bahia Brazil confirmed that Fr. James Wahome Irungu had drowned in the San Francisco river.
James was born in Kenya and relocated to Brazil in 2021 three years after being ordained.
He had been sent by the Consolata missionaries to the parish of Sao Joao Batista in Jaguarari.
Fr. José Vieira, Vigário Geral, will preside over the funeral ceremonies that will precede his burial.
The deceased will be laid to rest on Tuesday, November 15, in the city of Jaguarari.
