Matiangi impeachment is a non-issue, says MP

A section of Nyamira MPs have stood to defend interior CS Fred Matiang’i on his planned impeachment.

Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama on Friday said the impeachment motion against the CS has no grounds hence will not succeed.

“We have come together as the Gusii MPs to condemn the pending impeachment by TangaTanga MPs. This impeachment will not go anywhere.”

The MP further said, those behind the impeachment plans are just trying to taint the CS’ name, however, the Gusii leaders will not allow their kingpin to be disrespected by a section of MPs who don’t have direction.

Arama noted that the matters mentioned in the impeachment documents were long addressed by the courts.

“The leaders have come out with issues to do with Ruaraka land and the killings within the National police service but, it should be clear that the Ruaraka land issue was addressed by the court long time ago also, the CS is not in charge of the police. He is a policymaker the Ministry, the alleged crime within the police service should be addressed by the Inspector General of Police,” Arama argued.

Nyali MP Muhammed Ali yesterday drafted an impeachment motion against CS Matiang’i, where 92 MPs have already appended their signatures.

Meanwhile, Arama has urged the Members of Parliament not to entertain greedy leaders who have political interests.

“We should avoid some leaders who want to mislead us. Some TangaTanga MPs are manipulated to bring up issues that cannot take us anywhere as a country,” he stated.

He added that Gusii MPs will fight against the impeachment drama.

“We are firmly behind our son. This impeachment has no grounds. As a community, we need to come together and condemn this matter in the strongest terms possible,” Arama said.
