Nursing Interns Protest As They Present Their Petition To Parliamnet

Nursing interns on Tuesday came out to protest over the posting of interns and delayed payment.

The nurses carried placards and chanted songs as they walked along Parliament Road and Harambee Avenue.

Some wore blue-white lab coats and blue disposable scrub capes.

This comes as the doctors’ strike which started on March 14 entered its third week.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union in a statement said no amount of threats will make striking doctors go back to work.

KMPDU Secretary General Davji Atellah said governors, management of national referral hospitals and the Ministry of Health are demanding that doctors return to work instead of addressing the demands raised in the strike notice.

“We categorically denounce such attempts to intimidate and coerce our members into abandoning our legitimate struggle for better working conditions and healthcare services for all Kenyans,” Atellah said.
