Authorities in Nyamira County have established that a pastor who murdered his wife and took his life later had marital wrangles.
Keera Location Chief Peter Ndirangu said on Wednesday he had handled marital disputes relating to the family till before the incident yesterday.
George Asiba allegedly murdered his wife Mary George on Wednesday morning before taking his life after suspecting his wife of infidelity.
The incident occurred in Kenyambi Village, Keera sub-location, Keera Location, West Mugirango Constituency, Nyamira South Sub County, Nyamira County.
In his suicide note, the deceased George Asiba mentioned one man by the name of Edward Onyancha whom he said has allegedly infected his wife with HIV/AIDS, saying he was not ready to be infected with the same hence taking the step.
Part of the suicide note read in part, “I George Asiba has never and never wish to die of HIV/AIDS. I am fully aware that the man in question is HIV positive and hence I don’t want to be part of the mess that will come as a result of infection from another person. My wife Mary has made me go through a lot since they are in a relationship which I cannot bear, let even the media come and expose this rot,” read part of the suicide which was written in the native language (Ekegusii).
“I am calling upon our residents to be careful in dispute resolution in their families instead of taking one another’s life. Now the children are going to suffer because of unnecessary steps their parents have taken,” said Keera Location Chief Peter Ndirangu.
The suicide note also urged his first-born son to take care of the family property and also take care of his siblings since the parents are dead, calling upon the community friends and relatives to take, advice and assist their children where necessary.
“Your mother has made me go through a lot in the past few days of her relationship with the man (Edward Onyancha) and hence I did not want to do such a thing but I have suffered enough. Please take care of the family property and ask for advice from neighbours and relatives if you get any problem,” stated the note.
The couples’ bodies are lying at the Nyamira County Referral Hospital awaiting postmortem.
