Oimeke to fly ODM flag in the Bonchari mini-polls

Immediate former Energy Regulatory Commission Director General Eng Pavel Oimeke will be receiving his ODM nomination certificate ahead of the Bonchari by-election.

The mini-polls will be held on May 18. Political parties are expected to have submitted the names of their candidates to IEBC before March 22.

Oimeke resigned from ERC early last week. On Wednesday ODM announced that they had reached a consensus to give Oimke the certificate.

Oimeke said he was delighted to join the party. “I am ready to serve my people. I am injecting new blood in our Gusii politics.”

Three candidates; John Momanyi, David Ogega and Oimeke had shown interest in seeking the party ticket.

Momanyi said he was not satisfied with how the party decided to issue Oimeke with the ticket.

The late MP John Oroo’s widow Teresa Bitutu has been endorsed by the UDA party.

Jubilee Party is likely to conduct their nominations on Saturday. Two candidates; Zebedeo Opore and Eric Oigo will contest for the party ticket.
