President Ruto Launches Second Kenya Urban Support Programme (KUSP2)

President William Ruto has launched the second Kenya Urban Support Programme (KUSP2).

Speaking during the launch of the Programme at State House Nairobi on Tuesday, the President said urbanisation will curb land fragmentation.

The Head of State said that the government will spearhead the pregramme with support from the World Bank ensure the project is strategically designed to fortify urban institutions’ capacities, thereby enhancing the delivery and resilience of urban infrastructure and services.

It also aims to catalyse greater private sector engagement in urban planning processes, amplifying the programme’s impact on sustainable urban growth.

One of the key focal points of KUSP2 is its commitment to supporting the transition of refugee camps into integrated host communities and refugee settlements.

According to Ruto, the government is committed to the expansion of essential infrastructure to serve rapidly growing urban populations, with the goal of decongesting Nairobi and other major towns.
