Samia Suluhu Hassan has been sworn in as the sixth President of the United Republic of Tanzania following the demise of President John Pombe Magufuli.
Ms Hassan, who was the Vice President, was sworn in today morning at State House, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
As per the Tanzanian Constitution, after the death of the incumbent President, the Vice President takes over for the remainder of the term after being sworn in.
Samia Suluhu Hassan has made history by becoming Tanzania’s first female President and Vice President when Magufuli clinched the seat.
