A stray bullet killed a minor yesterday evening in Kiamako area, Nairobi County.
It is alleged that some police who were on patrol tried to stop a suspicious vehicle but the locals inquired about it.
The officers shot in the air to scatter them.
The 17-year-old was on the balcony of their rental house at the moment.
He got shot by one of the bullets, leaving him injured.
Starehe Sub-County Police Commander Julias Kiragu confirmed the incident, adding that the boy was rushed to the nearby hospital.
The minor, however, succumbed to the injuries and was taken to Chiromo Mortuary.
Kiragu urged all witnesses to record statements to help in investigations.
Meanwhile, the shooting incident has ignited tension in the region.
An angry mob stormed the Huruma Police Station and threatened to burn it.
