The August General elections were free and fair-President Ruto

President William Ruto yesterday maintained that the August 2022 General Elections were fare. He said that the servers were easily accessible for result tallies and comparison.

In response to calls by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party for auditing of the servers containing the presidential election results, President Ruto in his address during the Madaraka Day celebration in Embu insisted that the poll was beyond reproach.

The President pointed out that the government deployed secure, freely accessible public portal which accurately relayed vote tallies in the last elections. He added that this enabled Kenyans and anyone else to compare the vote tallies and confirm whether the results were accurate.

“Kenya set a new high in election management by deploying a secure, freely accessible public portal which accurately and faithfully relayed vote tallies in the last election, enabling Kenyans and indeed anyone else to compare, verify tallies and ascertain the results.” President Ruto said.

He later added that the easy accessibility of portals enabled the Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission (IEBC) to credibly declare the winners. According to him, the few petitions lodged in court by candidates who were not satisfied by the results show that the poll was free and fair.

The president said he will not engage in any talks about sharing power by creating extra positions in government, but instead, empower young people with jobs so that they can contribute to the growth of our economy.
