Three charged in court over defilement cases

Kisii Law Court Principal Magistrate Ezekiel Obina has detained for seven days a man who allegedly defiled his six-year-old girl.

The accused was charged that on April 3, 2021, at Kegogi location in Marani sub-county he allegedly defiled his own daughter contrary to the Sexual Offence Act.

Prosecutor Charles Morande requested the court not to release the accused person on bond since he had been considered a flight risk.

The DPP said that the mother of the minor is insecure and her security is not assured should the accused person be released on bond. “For the interest of justice, the accused person should remain in police custody.”

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges and he will be detained at Kisii Prisons.

In the same court, another man was also charged for defiling an eight-year-old girl. The 22-year-old suspect was charged that on April 8, 2021, in Kitutu Central he allegedly defiled an eight-year-old girl.

The suspect pleaded not guilty and was released on a bond of Shs 200,000. The case will resume for hearing on April 19.

Another man was also charged for defiling his eight-year-old daughter at the Getembe area in Kisii town.

The magistrate ordered the suspect to be escorted to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital for treatment after he was badly injured in the police cells.

The case will be mentioned on April 19, 2021.
