The US Embassy in Nairobi has issued a travel advisory urging American citizens to avoid traveling to Kisumu ahead of next Tuesday’s General Election.
In a statement issued on it’s official website on Tuesday, August 2, the Embassy imposed movement restrictions on personnel in Kisumu and warned the US citizens to be vigilant.
The embassy further warned Us citizens to monitor local media for updates, avoid crowds, avoid demonstrations and keep a low profile.
To remain safe while travelling, the Embassy encouraged them to carry proper identification, including a copy of the bio-page of a US passport with a copy of a current Kenyan visa.
They were further advised to be vigilant when visiting banks and ATMS and to avoid wearing expensive and flashy jewelry.
