Gusii Water and Sanitation Company (GWASCO) Managing Director has been suspended indefinitely.
Instead, the board has appointed Director Water Eng Elvis Masiga to take charge in an acting capacity.
Kisii town has not had water for two weeks after Kenya Power disconnected electricity from the company main water supply at Kegati area within Kisii Central.
GWASCO owes Kenya Power more than Sh 17 million incurred as electricity bills.
Yesterday, Kisii County Executive Member in-charge of Water Amos Andama said they had held discussions with Kenya Power to have electricity restored. “We will reach a conclusion on the matter.”
The company has less than 6,000 active meters with 11,000 illegal connection said to be consuming a huge portion of the company resources.
Most public institutions have been buying water from vendors in the town. Those affected include; Kisii Teaching and Referal Hospital, Kisii University, Kisii National Polytechnic and several other eating joints.
