Leaders continue to mourn the death of former Cabinet Minister Simeon Nyachae who died Monday morning at Nairobi Hospital.
Raila Odinga said; ” My heartfelt and sincere condolences go out to the family of former Cabinet Minister, MP, and long-serving career civil servant Simeon Nyachae. The Abagusii community has lost one of its most illustrious sons.”
Kisii Senator Prof Sam Ongeri in a detailed message said Mzee Nyachae is likely to be remembered for his chequered career in public administration and politics whereby his immense contribution towards the development of this country was fully realized.
“Nyachae distinguished himself as a candid and industrious servant of the people of Kenya throughout his service, notably as District Officer, District Commissioner, Provincial Commissioner, Chief Secretary and Member of the Cabinet in which he served in the capacities of Minister for Agriculture and Minister for Finance. His unparalleled commitment to duty and integrity in the execution of his managerial responsibilities in these portfolios was beyond reproach.”
Prof Ongeri said that by his exemplary entrepreneurial prowess and prudent management of public affairs and politics, Mzee Nyachae had attained the status of an accomplished statesman.
“His demise occasions a rare void that will take us long to fill as a country. We believe the Lord will comfort his family as they muster the courage to come to terms with this painful loss.”
Governor James Ongwae on behalf of his family and the people of Kisii County conveyed his condolences to the entire Nyandusi family and Omogusii at large. “We have lost a great community leader.”
Former Kenya Ports Authority Managing Director Eng Daniel Manduku said the late Nyachae has left a huge gap in the region’s leadership.
“He was a true son of the Gusii Community. We will remember him for the good he did to the community.”
