What Do You Know About Easter Holidays?

Easter, principal festival of the Christian church, which celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his Crucifixion.

According to Christianity, Jesus had been crucified on a Friday and rose from the dead on the following Sunday.

The Friday before Easter which is Good Friday, is the day that Christians commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary.

Easter Sunday is known for the resurrection of Jesus which, according to Christians, is a foundation of new faith.

Traditionally, on Easter Sundays, Christians could gather on this day of the week to pray together and worship God.

In Kenya the Easter holiday extends to Monday since it falls on a Sunday.

Churches use Easter to praise God for raising Jesus from the dead and to remember Christian martyrs who had been put to death rather than give up in their life.

The holiday is celebrated through reflecting on Easter Bible verses, putting on Easter outfits like white dresses and cooking Easter dishes.

Easter dishes include boiled eggs that symbolize new life and rebirth, roast lamb or ham, hot crosse burn, Easter candies and burns, Easter bread among other kinds of foods related to Easter.

For those who will have something feast on this Easter, remember to share with others, and if you do not have something special for the same, celebrate a new beginning and have faith.

We can celebrate together materially, attending religious services to stay firm spiritually.

Happy Easter Holidays!
