14 year old boy dies after being punished by teacher

A K.C.P.E candidate from Eldoret is said to have succumbed to his injuries after allegedly being brutally punished by one of the teachers in the staff room.

Enock Kipkoech’s body was found at a school dormitory in Kericho County.

It is alleged that Enock was asked to relocate from his class during exams but would later return his locker to his class after the exams a move that angered his teacher who demanded him to go to the staff room.

His classmates claim tohave heard his screams from the staffroom, afterwards the teacher  followed him to class and demanded that he goes straight to the dormitory to take a bath only for Enock to be found dead at around 4:00 pm hanging by a noose.

The boys’ parents claim that he had requested to speak to them on that fateful day but the school refused.

Richard Siele, the boy’s father says that  when his son  reported for the third term at St Teresa primary school on September 26, 2022, he was in good health. However, Enock had insisted that he be transferred from the school due to excessive corporal punishment.

St Teresa primary school claims the matter is under investigation by the DCI. Confirming the incident, Kericho County DCI officer Rhoda Kanyi has said the case is in their domain now.

Human Rights activists want the teacher who punished Enock to be arrested and prosecuted.
