Aaron Wan-Bissaka handed further ban by UEFA

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been handed a further match ban to his UEFA ban following his sending off in the Champions League defeat to Young Boys.

The 23-year-old was dismissed as Man United lost in their Champions League Group F opener to Young Boys.

Wan-Bissaka was initially suspended for just the match against Villarreal on Wednesday night.

However, he will now also be banned for their trip to Atalanta in October, as his mandatory one-match ban has been increased for “rough play”.

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said his thoughts on the decision to send the defender off.

“Aaron gets a touch that’s too far, and he gets the ball but he follows through.

“It’s hard to argue against the referee, but then again, he did not go through his ankle, he hit him on the top of his foot. It was never a malicious tackle.”

It is a further blow, for United adds to injuries, fellow defenders Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw, who limped off in the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday in the Premier League.
