In Gesiora village in Suna West, Migori County, a 17-year-old girl drowned in the River Romolo on Monday while gathering firewood.
The dead was climbing a tree when she accidently fell into the river and drowned, according to Cleti Kimaiyo, the head of the Kuria West sub-county police.
He was fetching firewood at the time.
While they were washing clothes by the river, he claimed that other kids tried to save her but were unsuccessful in doing so.
The deceased’s parents, according to Kimaiyo, claimed that the individual had epilepsy.
Before an autopsy, the body was sent to the mortuary at Akidiva Hospital.
