More than 13 people have died after a fuel tanker burst into flames in Gem Siaya County Saturday night, police have said.
“Fire broke out when members of the public were making attempts to siphon fuel from the tanker that was involved in a road accident,” said Gem OCPD Mosera Chacha.
11 others have been admitted to Yala Sub County hospital in Gem.
More people could be hiding in the villages with serious injuries fearing that they could be arrested.
A lorry carrying milk from Busia to Kisumu County and the fuel tanker from Kisumu to Busia was involved in the accident.
