The latest operation by police in Laikipia county to combat illegal brew involved a raid at Likii village in Nanyuki, where investigators recovered 30 liters of chang’aa and more than 300 liters of Kangara used to manufacture the unlawful beverage.
Martin Kariuki, the area chief, stated that although the brewers have frequently changed their strategies and hiding spots to evade law enforcement, their time is up.
He criticized judges, however, for levying light penalties, which results in the release of suspects and allows them to carry on with their illegal business.
John Nyoike, the head of the Laikipia police force, stated on Tuesday that the trade in illicit alcohol is being heavily targeted throughout the entire province.
