Children yet to report back to school

A section of children who lost their parents to COVID-19 are yet to report to school.
The government says such children will be traced to their homes and ensure that they get back to
school to continue with their education.
Susan Mochache the Principal Secretary Health says these are some the challenges that the
government will have to deal with.
Mochache was speaking today at KARI Primary in Kisii in her inspection of schools and in the
company of her colleagues; Colleta Suda, Principal Secretary Gender and Kevit Desai of the East
Africa Community.
According to Ms Mochache, four parents in the school died due to COVID-19. Children from
two of the affected families were yet to report to school.
About 123 pupils were yet to report back to the school in a statement released by the PS.
"There are challenges that we will have to encounter during this period. Social distancing
remains an issue. The government is doing all it can to solve any other emerging issues."
The Principal Secretaries will be visiting several other schools in the region to check on
measures put in place by the Institutions to curb the spread of COVID-19.
