EALA Women Caucus Spearhead Women’s Economic Empowerment In East Africa

The First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto, has asked members of the East Africa Legislative Assembly Women Caucus to fast-track legislation in support of women’s economic empowerment in the region.

She said that for us to catalyze development in all aspects of life and ultimately transform families, communities, East African Member States, and the whole continent, we have to acknowledge the impotance of gender equality and that of women empowerment.

The EALA Women Caucus is working towards emerging as a powerful voice in articulating the East Africa women’s agenda of justice, equality equity,  accountability and integration in the region.

Mama Rachel Ruto urged the caucus members to use their platforms to empower women, utilise our region’s youthful workforce, and protect our children.

By jointly utilising our human capital and natural resources productively, the legislators will chart a new course towards a brighter future for the citizens of the East African Community.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Peninah Malonza, Cabinet Secretary for East African Community, The Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs), and Regional Development, expressed the causus inspiration from the commitment by the first lady to advance the economic empowerment of women in Kenya.

The legislators present will be exposed to the programs of Mama Rachel Ruto, including an experience in table banking.
