Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo has nominated former West Mugirango MP Dr James Gesami
as his Deputy Governor.
A tense situation is currently being felt among two contenders who are said to be together now,
in bid to agree on who to be appointed.
The entire morning, Nyaribo was holed in a meeting with two main contenders of the position
who are ODM members from Nyamira.
According to a confidential source privy to the development, Nyaribo has narrowed down to
two: former West Mugirango MP Dr James Gesami and Former Kitutu Masaba MP who is also
ODM Treasurer Timothy Bosire.
Until midday Wednesday, the two were in deep consultation at Nyaribo’s residence at Nyabite
within Nyamira Town where, according to the source, the two are supposed to agree on who
should cede ground for another.
On Tuesday, Nyaribo met with Raila and Council of Governors Chairman who is also the ODM
Chairman Wycliffe Oparanya at the former Prime Minister’s home in Karen.
ODM had made a demand on who Nyaribo should appoint as a deputy with the party
maintaining that he should go for a deputy from the party.
Nyaribo is an Amani National Congress life member and he had entered into a coalition
agreement with his predecessor John Nyagarama whom he succeeded a week ago following his
death.
After the appointment, the County Assembly is expected to ratify the choice.
