Homabay Man Killed by Wife Over Text Messages

A woman in Homabay has been detained by police over claims of stabbing her husband to death over a mobile phone in a bar fight.

The suspect  was arrested on Wednesday afternoon after  stabbing the 31year old victim who was identified as Charles Onyango. Prior to the stabbing Mr. Onyango was an employee of the Homabay County government.

Onyango who was stabbed on the chest died at the scene.

Witnesses claim that the victim walked in to the bar and ordered some drinks and proceeded to sit in a corner, he was later joined by his wife who proceeded to drink as well.

As both were drinking an argument ensued between them, it is alleged that the suspect started demanding for her husband’s phone. Her intentions were through his text messages.

What started as a normal conversation soon turned into a full blown argument after the victim refused to let go of his phone. It is then that the woman then withdrew the knife from her bag and stabbed her husband.

According to Homa Bay location chief Joshua Ochogo, the couple were under  the influence of alcohol during the fight.

Mr. Ochogo said that the woman had carried the weapon with intention to kill. She stabbed the victim once on the chest and he collapsed and died.

The suspect is in custody and the body of the deceased was taken to Homa Bay County teaching and referral hospital mortuary.
