Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has said that Kenyans will live to appreciate the services President William Ruto is planning to deliver to them.
Speaking during a church service at Leshuta in Narok County on Sunday, the CS expressed his optimism in what President Ruto has planned for Kenyans. He defended the Finance Bill 2023 saying that Kenyans will remember Ruto for transforming their lives in that he will be the first president to get people out of slums.
CS Duale stated that despite the public contention around the Finance Bill, the president has a good plan of saving the country from economic crisis. He added that despite the harsh tax reforms proposed in the Bill, Kenyans will come to appreciate the president’s work.
“Every leader will be remembered. You have been given the mandate to lead 50 million Kenyans and decide for them, the security of their livelihoods, roads, water and everything else,” said CS Duale.
He further criticized the leaders opposing the Housing Levy proposed in the bill saying that they are beneficiaries of huge pension allowances of up to Ksh.30 Million that comes from the government. According to Duale, the leaders in the Senate and the National Assembly who are against the bill, are denying Kenyans an opportunity to own properties.
Duale added that leaders like Kalonzo Musyoka and Raila Odinga live in Karen where they have very good homes yet they pretend to be against the plan. He made it clear that the government has a plan to give homes to those who do not have any and that, leaders from the opposition should be honesty in the whole issue.
Meanwhile, the Azimio coalition is ready to resume anti-government protests if the controversial bill is not reviewed. The Deputy President on the other side, said that the bill will pass as it is.
