Kirinyaga woman rep defends gov’t appointments

Njeri Maina, a woman representative for Kirinyaga, has stepped up to defend the Kenya Kwanza administration against accusations of making tribal appointments in the public sector.

The administration led by President William Ruto, according to Maina, who talked on Citizen TV’s DayBreak Show on Friday, is solely rewarding its supporters in the 2022 August General Election.

She rejected allegations of tribalism and nepotism in the selections, claiming that the administration was focused on keeping its election promises by appointing leaders it saw fit.Citing the past utterances by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that the government is like a company with shareholders, the MP defended the remarks intimating that the Deputy President only alluded to state appointments and not to development.

We want the government to provide the services for which we pay taxes, yet DP Rigathi Gachagua did not speak about progress. He has stated unequivocally that it will be carried out equally in all countries. He discussed government appointments in his speech. It is  true that even in sophisticated countries, individuals appoint those they think are capable of achieving their goals,” she remarked.

According to the lawmaker, Kenyans should shift their attention to the development record of the regime and underlook the leadership running the country

The legislator contends that Kenyans ought to turn their focus away from the country’s ruling elite and toward the regime’s record of growth.
