Fifteen people have died today morning after two buses collided at Kizingo area along the Malindi-Mombasa highway.
The accident involved a Sabaki Travellers Sacco shuttle van from Malindi heading to Mombasa and a Muhsin bus heading to Garissa.
Kilifi County Commissioner Kutswa Olaka said the crash happened after the Muhsin bus lost control due to a tyre burst.
Olaka added that 15 people perished while 14 were wounded.
According to eyewitnesses, both drivers died on the spot.
A number of Kilifi County workers who were on their way to work also died in the accident.
Kenya Red Cross, Police, Kilifi county government officials, as well as well-wishers, joined hands to see the casualties’ taken to Malindi sub-county hospital for treatment.
The deceased were taken to the Malindi Hospital mortuary.
